A well-known concert pianist from southwestern Connecticut, whose two children live in Paris, spoke publicly for the first time Sunday about the terrorist attacks in France.
Frederick Chiu said he was horrified to see the images of violence on television.
"You know there's a feeling of helplessness," he says.
Chiu and his wife Jeanine immediately contacted their children and found out they were both safe and unharmed.
He hopes to use music to overcome the sense of discord and uncertainty.
The Julliard-trained concert pianist lived in France for many years and just recently returned from Paris. He hopes to go back there soon to help the people of France heal.
