(03/10/06) STRATFORD ? Congressman Chris Shays (R-CT) offered a dim view of Sikorsky management?s handling of the ongoing union strike Friday.
Shays says Sikorsky?s move to bring in temporary replacement workers and move some work out of state sends the wrong message to its employees. Shays says the striking employees are normal, hard working people with financial concerns and health care needs. According to the congressman, Sikorsky must take a more active approach to open up dialogue with its striking workers.
Friday marked day 19 of the strike. Local 1150 staged a large union rally Thursday headed up by Teamsters President Jim Hoffa Jr.
