Connecticut athletes continue to make their mark at the Paris Olympics, with standout performances in rowing, soccer, field hockey, and swimming.
In rowing, Westport's Oliver Bub and fellow New Englander William Bender will compete in the final B for men's pair tomorrow morning after finishing last in semifinal 1.
Stratford's Alyssa Naeher helped the U.S. women's national soccer team secure a 2-1 win over Australia, advancing them to the quarterfinals against Japan.
Beth Yeager of Greenwich and the U.S. women's field hockey team fell to Australia 3-0, but remain in fifth place. They face Great Britain today and South Africa on Saturday.
Greenwich native Gretchen Walsh finished eighth in the 100m freestyle final and will conclude her Olympic run in the 50-meter freestyle event later this weekend.
