Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) said today that the Connecticut delegation to Congress is facing an uphill battle on many fronts to save jobs at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford.

The announcement comes just three days after President Barack Obama unveiled his defense priorities for 2012.

The Connecticut delegation to Congress says Sikorsky Aircraft is where hard work and American ingenuity come together, but stiff competition from other defense contractors could put a substantial number of the jobs there in jeopardy.

Sen. Blumenthal said the Connecticut delegation is united in keeping Sikorsky Aircraft a top gun for the Department of Defense.

?Our national defense, more than anything, should bring us together,? said Blumenthal.

Blumenthal added that Sikorsky could get caught in a cross wind if obsolete military bases in other parts of nation compete for funding, or if less qualified defense contractors bid for projects.

While Sikorsky is not allowing its employees to go on camera, one man?s son who works at the plant says further job cuts would deal a devastating blow.
