It may not be a good time to grab some McDonald's at one local franchise if you're trying to save some money.
News 12 Connecticut found one of the most expensive Mickey D's in the country. With some of the most congested traffic in America, it's no wonder the Darien rest stop on I-95 north is one of the busiest in the country.
But if you pull up to the drive-thru at this McDonald's, you will find some of the highest prices for your burgers around. The company's website says McDonald's allows franchisees to set their own prices.
In Darien, you’ll pay $8.29 for a Big Mac and $17.59 for the meal when up the road it's almost $3 cheaper for the sandwich and even $9 cheaper for the meal.
News 12 found a double quarter pounder with cheese meal in Darien is even more at $18.99, and just the sandwich is $9.89. Even a 10-piece chicken McNuggets meal is $18.29
Customers we spoke to aren't "lovin' it."
"To feed a family is expensive nowadays, and as a family of five knowing it’s a little cheaper down the road ... it’s worth the drive," said Molly from Virginia.
The chicken sandwich meal is $17.99, and a cheeseburger usually found on the dollar menu will cost you $17 for two.
If you use any of the food delivery services, it might cost you an extra $10 to $20.
