A Connecticut weight loss camp for kids has been shut down over "concerns about the health, safety and wellbeing" of campers, the Office of Early Childhood and Department of Children and Families announced .
Camp Shane in South Kent was shut down while the two state agencies conduct a joint investigation.
In a statement, the OEC and DCF said, "We are conducting a joint investigation of Camp Shane CT due to concerns about the health, safety and wellbeing of children enrolled at the summer youth camp."
Officials say the director of Camp Shane had indicated that operations would shut down July13.
Officials from both the OEC and DCF say no further details will be provided because the investigation is a pending matter involving minors.
