April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and Connecticut officials are highlighting the state's Safe Haven Act for Newborns.
Because of the act, parents can surrender their newborn anonymously if they feel they cannot care for the child.
However the baby cannot be more than 30 days old and must be brought to staff at an emergency room.
The Department of Children and Families commissioner says this is a "responsible alternative."
