Construction is starting on the Beaver Brook Trail that has been out of commission for years.
The 1-mile walking trail was a popular destination for families and nature lovers until April 2012, when a brush fire destroyed portions of the boardwalk and made the whole marshland path unwalkable.
Machinery is now on site, and the project to build a a new and improved walkway is underway.
Officials say the work on Beaver Brook Trail will include improvements to the parking lot and better accessibility for residents with disabilities. Officials say they should have Beaver Brook Trail open to the public by the summer.
Officials say the boardwalk restoration will cost a little over $700,000.
