Contractor sentenced to 3 years for cheating 19 Sandy-damaged homeowners
A contractor who stole more than $450,000 from 19 homeowners in New Jersey while failing to repair their properties following Superstorm Sandy has been sentenced to three years in state prison.
George LaRosa will also have to pay restitution to his victims. The 50-year-old Barnegat man had pleaded guilty last September to theft by deception.
Ocean County prosecutors have said LaRosa pocketed the money for personal use and never completed the agreed-upon work. He also shut down his GL Construction company.
LaRosa took money from people in Stafford, Lacey, Long Beach Township, Toms River, Ship Bottom and Little Egg Harbor.
