Police say they need the public's help to find the driver who hit a man in Stamford and took off Monday. According to police, the hit-and-run incident took place on Jefferson Street around 9 p.m. The victim remains hospitalized at Stamford Hospital with life-threatening injuries, including severe head trauma. Officers have been unable to identify the victim. They say he is a Hispanic man, in his 30s with tattoos on his right upper arm and left forearm. They believe his name could be William. Police say they are looking for a 1997-2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette, either white or light gray. Officers say the vehicle will have significant damage to the driver's-side front corner and headlight. The accident reconstruction squad is still investigating, but is asking the driver to come forward. ?We usually do locate the offending operator. We would urge him or her to turn himself in to lessen the punishment they would suffer,? Lt. Sean Cooney of the Stamford Police Department said.
