Connecticut Attorney General William Tong and 20 other attorneys general secured a win Thursday when a U.S. District Court in Massachusetts halted the Trump administration's attempts to dismantle the Department of Education.

The court's preliminary injunction orders all employees who were fired as part of the layoffs to be reinstated.

In a statement, Tong called the move "a lawless political attack on our kids and our schools." He added, "We sued, we've stopped them for now, and we'll stay in court for as long as it takes to protect education in this country."
