Crews remain on the scene at the former Remington Arms factory in Bridgeport, which went up in flames Tuesday.
The flames also spread to the factory's former offices and a row of nearby homes.
The fires happened near the corner of Helen Street and Barnum Avenue. Officials say the fire may be due to arson.
Many neighbors say that they want to see the factory torn down. City officials say the land is privately owned, but there is a court order that is supposed to dictate the demolition and cleanup of the property.
City leaders say the demolition needs to be done sooner rather than later because it is a public safety hazard.
Crews say they could be on the scene for several more days.
The fire marshal is trying to determine if embers from the factory fire sparked the fire in the row of homes.
About 10 people were displaced from their homes as a result of the fire. A local church is coordinating donations for displaced families.
