A 1-month-old baby declared missing in Litchfield County was pronounced dead on Sunday, state police say.

Sadie Fleming, the child’s mother who was also reported missing earlier in the day, was found injured.

Officers say they found Fleming and her newborn Sunday at 5:45 p.m. on a wooded road in Washington, in need of medical attention.

Police say they located the baby, Hudson Fleming, nearby in the wood line. The baby was treated on scene and then transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Troopers say Sadie left her residence Sunday between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m. with the infant and a Silver Alert was issued to locate the two individuals.

They say detectives from the State Police Western District Major Crime Unit are investigating this incident.

Officials say there is no threat to the public and this is all the information available.

State police are asking anyone who may have witnessed Sadie Flemming during the time that she was missing or anyone who has anything to add to the investigation to contact Detective Daniel Koehler at Troop L at 860-626-7900.
