Communities in southwestern Connecticut today joined many others across the country in taking a stand against racism.
The YWCA's national Stand Against Racism started in 2007 in New Jersey and is now observed in 39 states.
Local businesses, schools and municipalities all held events today, including a reading of the Pledge Against Racism in both Norwalk and Darien.
Local and state elected officials, the police department and religious leaders joined people from the community at City Hall for Norwalk's first ceremony.
The YWCA is also holding the Race Against Racism this Sunday.
