Residents across southwestern Connecticut are mourning the loss of iconic singer Whitney Houston, with makeshift memorials popping up around the state. Anthony Smith, the founder and director of a Bridgeport gospel choir, says he remembers watching Houston as a child, and that she helped shape his career path. "Growing up listening to all her records and CDs, she has just shown me professionalism and true artistry," says Smith. Several television networks and radio stations have planned special tributes to honor the late singer.
