Sen. Chris Murphy will hold a news conference in Hartford today to condemn the U.S. military's response time after the chaos last week in Washington, D.C.
Murphy says he plans to discuss the lack of threat intelligence and the response time it took for the DC National Guard to arrive at the Capitol during the armed invasion.
Angry supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday in a protest aimed at disrupting a peaceful transfer of power.
The siege forced lawmakers, including Sen. Murphy, to be rushed from the building where they were certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Sen. Murphy has been vocal on social media about the event tweeting about the protesters saying, "they had stun guns and zip ties and that many weren't there to play. They were there for blood."
Sen. Murphy plans to speak outside the Connecticut State Capitol later today.
