Danbury man charged with deadly vehicle crash in Newtown

Police say a Ford Mustang GT was heading west at a high rate of speed. As the vehicle approached the intersection, the driver did not follow the left-hand curve in the road and drove straight, striking a tree, police say.

A Danbury man was charged in connection to a deadly vehicle crash in Newtown, according to officials.
Alexis Salazar, 19, was speeding as he crashed into a tree on Berkshire Road on Aug. 24, police say.
Officials say a Ford Mustang GT was heading west as the vehicle approached the intersection of Zoar Road. Salazar drove straight, striking a tree.
Mary Cordero, 19, of Danbury, was pronounced dead on scene, according to police.
Three other passengers, alongside Salazar, were transported to Danbury Hospital for their injuries. Two were critically injured.
Salazar turned himself in on an arrest warrant Tuesday.
He was released on a $300,000 bond.
