Danbury police say two people died Friday afternoon after a man stabbed a woman, and then himself.

An officer heard an altercation happening in the area of High Ridge Road. Upon arrival, the officer saw a man standing over a woman in the road.

The man then turned toward the officer and stabbed himself in the chest, then fell to the ground.

The officer found the man had also stabbed the woman several times. Additional officers and EMS provided medical assistance to both parties. They were transported to Danbury Hospital and died there.

Police say the incident is domestic and the man and woman lived together.

The investigation is ongoing, identification of both parties is being withheld at this time.
