The nonprofit Connecticut Theater Dance Company in Norwalk is establishing a youth scholarship in honor of a 6-year-old girl who recently died from complications with the flu.
Christy Pugh, says her daughter, Emma Splan was the “kindest, sweetest” child who was also a natural on stage. She says her gentle, elegant spirit will endure.
"We miss her incredibly, but we know that she'll live on,” says Pugh.
The dance company’s director Michelle Sperry says the youth scholarship will go toward children who would otherwise not be able to afford a dance education.
The performances during Saturday’s Forever Angel Tribute celebrated Emma's legacy and the scholarships established in her honor.
"We want to make sure someone in Norwalk dances every year to carry out her love of dance," said Sperry.
