Darien is quiet again after firefighters battled a brush fire at Woodland Park Wednesday afternoon.
Fire officials say the fire broke out just after 3 p.m. After a few hours, the fire was contained, but crews remained on scene to check for hot spots.
They say the fire spread about five to six acres in the preserves of Woodland Park, and firefighters are said to have used a 600-foot hose to put it out.
Officials say that even though the fire was as close as 300 to 400 feet away from homes in the area, none of them had to be evacuated.
Officials are urging people to use caution in the dry conditions.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
