In the midst of the pandemic, a Darien photographer is inviting people to share a happy moment together.

Katharine Calderwood is capturing close moments from a distance.

It's called the Front Steps Project, a movement launched in Massachusetts that's since spread across the country.

Calderwood has snapped more than 50 family portraits from afar.
Friday's shoot brought her to the Knapp home. In exchange for the pictures, families are asked to make a donation to the Darien Foundation or Corbin Cares. Two other Darien photographers have also joined the effort.

Both groups are buying meals from local restaurants, then donating the food to frontline workers and people in need -- in Darien and neighboring communities.

"My favorite part is capturing the small moments of joy that are still happening even during this time," said Calderwood.
