David Bigelow, who ran Fairfield based Bigelow tea company for 46 years, died in June. He was 96.
Bigelow grew up in Wilton, served in World War II and graduated from Yale. He lived in Westport and Palm Beach.
According to his
obituary, under his watch, Bigelow became the first tea maker to add flavorings to black tea.
He remained in an active role in the company until he turned 90.
Bigelow is survived by his wife, Eunice. daughter Cindi, two grandchildren and several other family members.
Services will be held in August.
David Bigelow's daughter Cindi Bigelow said in a post on the Bigelow
Facebook page that he died "peacefully" on June 27 "after having been diagnosed with metastatic melanoma fifteen months ago."
