It's that time of year when postal workers become Santa's elves, doing their best to make sure troops overseas get their holiday care packages in time for Christmas. First-class care packages sent out Monday will arrive overseas in time for Christmas. Packages that did not make the deadline will have to be sent by U.S. Postal Service Express Mail to ensure the troops will receive them in time. Lisa Landone is in charge of customer relations at the post office in Stamford. She says there are restrictions when sending items to certain countries. Landone adds if a person wants to give a package to a military installation, it won't be accepted without a person?s name. The U.S. Postal Service predicts more than 10 million pounds of parcel will reach the troops this holiday season. Express Mail must be sent out by December 19 in order to reach the troops in time.
