A tentative deal has been reached to avoid police layoffs in Stamford. Officials say overnight negotiations led to an agreement that will save the jobs of 20 police officers. The Stamford Police Department said it had needed to cut the jobs to save $900,000.The president of the Stamford Police Association says concessions were made, but he can't release the specifics until all of the officers are notified. He did say, however, they will still receive a 3 percent raise as anticipated.
According to Mayor Dan Malloy, the deal is similar to what the fire department agreed upon.
