Bridgeport is one step closer to removing Police Chief Joe Gaudett from his position.
The City Council voted to refer a proposal for Gaudett's employment to it's contract committee.
That committee will review the plan for Gaudett to leave his position as chief and accept another position with the city.
There are no details yet on what the new position would be.
Sources say Captain A.J. Perez is expected to take over as chief of the police department.
The City Council says they expect the matter to be decided by March 1.
