The village of Ridgewood has gotten the green light to move forward with a controversial development project.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has conditionally approved plans for a park and athletic field next to the historic Zabriskie-Schedler home.
The project was the subject of a Kane in Your Corner investigation after the village accidentally contaminated the property by bringing in dirt with high levels of lead and mercury. A DEP panel temporarily blocked the plan earlier this month and requested changes to it.
The revised plan includes three times as much open space between the historic home and the athletic field.
