The Department of Public Health has issued a COVID-19 alert for Stamford following a cluster of cases among college students and with expected social gatherings this weekend.

The Department of Public Health has issued a COVID-19 alert for Stamford following a cluster of cases among college students and with expected social gatherings this weekend.
Health officials say an early warning wastewater system detected a potential increase in cases in the city. Sacred Heart University closed its doors temporarily to off-campus students who live in Bridgeport after 10 off-campus students tested positive for coronavirus.
Also, with the holiday weekend, officials are reminding everyone to wear a mask, maintain social distance, wash hands frequently and avoid large crowds.
People at Cove Island Park tell News 12 they're prepared to have fun but also care about the health and safety of others.
Officials say they'll be monitoring restaurants and other public spaces.
