Dept. of Public Health issues finding of 'immediate jeopardy' for Newtown nursing home

The Department of Public Health is looking into Newtown Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
The Department of Public Health confirmed to News 12 it issued a finding of immediate jeopardy on Friday, Jan. 13 in the facility, which indicates the state found conditions that could cause serious harm or death.
News 12 called the Department of Public Health to clarify and confirm what the immediate jeopardy to the facility is, but it said specific details won't be released until a future date.
The department did confirm the status was removed by Sunday.
Athena Health Care tells News 12 that it put in place an immediate plan of correction to resolve the identified concerns.
The facility has voluntarily ceased admissions, and the Department of Public Health has asked the facility to continue to halt admissions until further notice by the department.
