The Bronx Bombers held Derek Jeter Day to pay tribute to the outgoing shortstop.
Former teammates, managers and friends joined him on the field in a special pregame ceremony to pay their "re2pect" to No. 2. The ceremony was emceed by broadcaster Michael Kay, and it included appearances by Cal Ripken Jr. and Michael Jordan.
Jeter addressed his fans in a speech to conclude the ceremony. "I want to thank you for helping me feel like a kid the last 20 years," he said.
The Yankees did not retire Jeter's No. 2 or unveil a plaque in Monument Park, setting the stage for a second ceremony sometime in the future.
