Dr. Scott Lundy says men can't always prevent health conditions like cancer or heart disease, but you can lower your risk with healthy habits.
"Things like avoiding cigarettes and vaping, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding excessive alcohol, eating unprocessed foods, and exercising regularly," he said.
He says get a handle on your blood pressure and other important numbers.
Three tips for men from the Mayo Clinic:
  • Get screened for prostate cancer by getting your PSA prostate-specific antigen numbers checked.
  • Be proactive and get other routine screenings. Have your cholesterol level checked and know your vitamin D levels, which affect bone and immune health.
  • Make small changes toward a heart-healthy diet. Limit red meat, focus on fresh fruit, veggies and leafy greens.
