Sen. Chris Dodd was in Bridgeport Monday morning to lend his support to a faith-based initiative to help homeowners nearing foreclosure.
?Homes Saved by Faith? is a statewide initiative to help homeowners struggling to pay their mortgages. The idea behind the program is to give local ministers and pastors the training they need to help people deal with financial trouble. The ministers and pastors would learn what resources are available and help people utilize those resources.
Dodd is working to get federal funds to help run the program. The initiative involves 350 churches of 15 denominations.
?Homes Saved by Faith? representatives will hold a number of programs over the next few weeks.
