Donations of winter coats and clothing were given out Wednesday to victims of a fire that destroyed a condominium in Bridgeport.
The Bridgeport Rescue Mission collected clothing, household items and toys at the Bridgeport Shipyard on Seaview Avenue for families that were affected by the condo fire on Charles Street. More than 100 people were left homeless.
Organizers say they have been overwhelmed with the community's generosity.
"Whenever we reach out to the community, they rally and they always come through for us, so it's not surprising that they have opened up their hearts to the people of this devastating fire," said Bridgeport Rescue Mission's Donna Romano.
The Bridgeport Rescue Mission also said fire victims can pick up more necessities Thursday.
