Officials with the state Department of Transportation have ordered the cancellation of a Fairfield taxi service, with town leaders rushing to compensate for an upcoming lack of cabs. The DOT says the owners of the Fairfield Cab Company have until the end of the month to either sell or relocate the business. Officials say a report determined the company to be unsafe after several vehicles failed inspections. Two drivers have also pleaded guilty to separate incidents of sexual assault and delivering alcohol to a minor. Fairfield's Parking Authority chairman says the town needs a cab service at its Metro-North station, and that other companies have already inquired about the opening.Fairfield cab driver pleads guilty to sexual assault
