Douglas Fischer, a retired Greenwich police lieutenant, has died. He was 82 years old.
The Greenwich Police Department announced the news on its Facebook page
"Lieutenant Fischer's file contains numerous commendations for his excellent police work as well as many letters of thanks from grateful citizens," it said.
Lieutenant Fischer, who was born and raised in Greenwich, served the community for 31 years. He started in 1966 as a police officer and retired in 1997 as a lieutenant.
