Downed trees and wires closed two streets in Greenwich Monday as strong wind gusts and rain hit southwestern Connecticut, officials say.
Porchuck Road was blocked off for a tree and wires down, Greenwich fire officials say. Eversource crews cleared the debris away.
The fire department also says that Lower Cross Road in Greenwich was closed due to a tree, pole and wires down. Hundreds of customers in Greenwich are also without power, according to Eversource.
The worst outages are in the Redding, Ridgefield and Danbury areas.
Bridgeport also saw damage due to the storm, after 61 mph winds sent a tree into a home on Main Street. In Fairfield, a tree came down just off Mill Plain Road. In Weston, Route 57 was closed for hours.
Power lines in Redding also caught fire on Limekiln Road. The Connecticut shoreline saw rough seas but only minor flooding at high tide.
Eversource can only send one worker on each truck due to coronavirus. The utility has every one of its workers wearing masks despite the rain.
