Connecticut lawmakers heard dozens
of people testify Monday - both for and against - a possible tobacco flavor
ban.
A new bill would
make it a criminal offense to sell menthol cigarettes or vape pods.
Health advocates
say they're too attractive to teenagers. Critics say menthol products are also
popular with Black customers, and that they're worried about police abuse.
Critics say it's
hypocritical to ban flavored tobacco while also pushing for legalized
marijuana.
