Workers at a local DPW are pitching in to help after a fire gutted colleague's home.
A few weeks ago, a fire started in a car at Nick Colabella's home in Monroe and spread to his house. It happened on the same day as his grandmother's funeral.
It neared its $10,000 goal Tuesday.
“It is really nice to see, and it is going to be a great help for a guy that needs it,” says Highway Superintendent Mose Saccary.
Friends say Colabella is still staying at a hotel. News 12 is told that he hopes he will be able to find a more permanent place to stay with his family.
