A vehicle was severely damaged when it crashed into a utility pole Wednesday in Westport, according to authorities.

Fire officials say it happened near 256 Post Road East, blocking one of the nearby lanes.

Westport EMS and police also responded to the scene.

Authorities say the pole remained intact despite the damage to the vehicle.

The cause of the accident and the driver’s condition were not immediately clear.
