The driver of a disabled truck was injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Interstate 95 Saturday morning.
The incident happened on the northbound side of the road just past exit 15 in Norwalk at around 12:30 a.m.
Officials say the truck was pulled over to the side of the road and was being hooked up to a tow truck when another vehicle veered into the breakdown lane and struck the driver.
According to Connecticut's Move Over Law, drivers must slow down and if possible, move over a lane if they see a police officer, emergency vehicle or tow truck pulled over on the side of the road.
Deputy Chief Edward Prescott says despite that, cars continued to fly by at top speeds as crews worked at the scene of the crash.
Prescott advises drivers to get over to the shoulder, call 911 and then stand on the opposite side of the guardrail if they do break down on the highway.
Police say the 22-year-old victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive.
A description of the suspect's vehicle has not yet been released.
