News 12 Connecticut featured a segment this past weekend on some of the hottest toys for the holiday season, and those toys have found permanent homes.
News 12’s Eric Landskroner played Santa Claus at the Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, where donations have been coming in fast to make sure children who do have to spend Christmas in the hospital can have some holiday cheer.
It’s not the only time of the year the hospital counts on people’s generosity.
“The issue is that we have the challenge throughout the year,” says Cynthia Sparer. “So we get a huge set of donations this time of year and then we've got the other 11 months to worry about because the need is still there when children are ill.
While News 12 was at the hospital, a van pulled up, stuffed from floor to ceiling, packed with toys.
All of the toys in the van were donated as part of the Madeline's Wish Toy drive in memory of a little girl who lost her battle with leukemia last year.
