Soccer fans across the country are celebrating team USA's 13-0 victory against Thailand, especially in Fairfield County.
Starting goalie Alyssa Nahaer grew up in Stratford and went to Christian Heritage School in Trumbull. Community members gathered at the school to hold a party while watching the game on the big screen.
Nahaer attended Christian Heritage from first to 12th grade.
Maggie Egan says she is really excited for Nahaer. She says she thinks she's more nervous than Nahaer is.
Also excited is Cameron Beecher, whose mom was once Nahaer's teacher.
"I think this is pretty cool, my mom taught Alyssa when she was in fifth grade," says Beecher.
Organizers say if Team USA does well and keeps winning games then they will keep having more parties.
