Fairfield County police departments donate body armor to Ukraine citizens

Police departments across Fairfield County joined forces to donate body armor to Ukrainian citizens.
More than 200 used ballistic vests and helmets have been donated from a dozen police departments in the area.
State Rep. Laura Devlin says she heard at a rally at the Ukrainian American Club in Southport that there was a dire need for body armor.
Devlin says she contacted Fairfield Police Chief Robert Kalamaras who then spoke with other police departments to see if they had previously worn gear to donate.
Fairfield Police are working with the Ukrainian American Coordinating Council to ship the ballistic vests and helmets to Ukraine.
The gear will be distributed to members of the military, territorial defenses and civilians.
Fairfield Police say police departments in other Connecticut counties are also coming together to do the same.
