A good Samaritan was hit by a vehicle while trying to help people injured in a serious two-car crash in Fairfield.
It happened early Saturday morning near the northbound rest area on the Merritt Parkway.
The Fairfield Fire Department says the person pulled over to render care and was struck by a third car.
In total, five people were taken to the hospital with injuries. Their conditions were not immediately clear.
Firefighters want to remind people to be extremely careful with post-accident involvement and always be aware of oncoming traffic, especially at night.
