A group of Fairfield women who send care packages to soldiers overseas is asking for donations in order to continue their philanthropy beyond the holidays.
?A Project from the Heart? is asking for items such as beef jerky, aspirin, power bars and notepads to pass along to the troops. Volunteers say supplies are running very low.
The women of ?A Project from the Heart? first started mailing goods to soldiers of the Vietnam War. The group banded together again in 2003 for the Iraq War, and meet once a week year-round.
The deadline to mail packages for the troops in time for Christmas passed last week, but the group says people should remember the troops at all times.
