The Fairfield Health Department is urging residents to get a flu vaccine.

A flu vaccination clinic will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. inside the cafeteria at the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities at 100 Mona Terrace.

The clinic is walk-in only and is offering the flu vaccine for people 3 years old and up.

The high dose flu shot and the pneumonia vaccine will also be available for those over 65.  

The pneumonia vaccine will also be offered to those over 65.

Medicare Part B, Connecticare, Aetna, Cigna, Anthem, United HealthCare and Oxford are all being accepted.

There's no co-pay.

Without insurance, the out-of-pocket price for the flu vaccine is $30.

Both the high dose flu vaccine and pneumonia vaccines are $65.

Only credit cards and checks are accepted.

Health officials say it takes around two weeks after receiving shot for the body to develop protection against the flu virus.
