Fairfield hockey star Charlie Capalbo was laid to rest Thursday after the 23-year-old died fighting cancer for the fourth time.
Family and friends said their final goodbyes to the former high school goalie who inspired the hockey world and local community through his courageous battle with cancer.
A funeral Mass for Capalbo was held at St. Thomas Aquinas in Fairfield.
Hundreds of mourners gathered Wednesday at his wake at Penfield Pavilion.
Capalbo died on April 24 after his fourth battle with cancer.
