Fairfield Town officials held a special meeting on Tuesday to hear concerns from residents about the SantaCon party that left Penfield Beach trashed back in December.
Residents called the SantaCon party an "environmental disaster," and said the students should've received some type of legal punishment or fine.
Hundreds gathered at the beach for a holiday-themed party, and left tons of garbage behind for residents and police to clean up.
Many residents living near the beach called for stricter regulations on university parties and littering.
Fairfield's First Selectman Bill Gerber pledged to collaborate with the town to develop a solution for future events.
"I will reiterate that we have to do whatever we can; number one, to avoid human tragedy and number two, to avoid environmental tragedy," said Gerber.
