Fairfield police are warning residents following a rash of home and car break-ins over the past week. Authorities say more than a dozen crimes have occurred in the city's Stratfield section, and that the spike is part of a larger trend dating back to the beginning of August. They say they're investigating 14 home and 26 vehicle burglaries since then, with many happening during the day. Deputy Police Chief Chris Lyddy says the suspects appear to find open cars and grab whatever they can, including loose change, GPS units and other electronics. Earlier this week, police arrested a man believed to be responsible for four of the car break-ins. They say they do not think he was involved in any others. Anyone with information is urged to call Fairfield police at 203-254-4800.
