The pandemic hasn't stopped people from walking, running or biking during the stay-at-home order, and police in Fairfield want to make sure drivers stay alert.
"We're asking people to slow down, pay attention to the road, and not to drive distracted," Capt. Robert Kalamaras, of the Fairfield Police Department, says.
Kalamaras says if there's a sidewalk then pedestrians should use it.
But if there's no sidewalk and you're walking with someone else, police say you should use a six-foot rule and try to keep walking in front or behind each other and not side by side.
He says those on bicycles have to operate within the lane as far to the right as they can, so that vehicles can travel by them safely.
Kalamaras says he thinks it's great that people are outside and moving around while practicing social distancing, but with traffic, everyone has to do their part safely.
