Connecticut residents with ties to France were mourning Saturday after the terror attacks in Paris.
The French bakery Isabel and Vincent, located in Fairfield, is owned by a French couple. It is very popular with local residents who are either French themselves or who have friends and family who live in France.
The cafe's owners say the images from Paris that they saw were shocking to watch and left them feeling helpless. They say they kept watching, just to have a visual connection with their homeland.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal spent the day meeting with French natives like Koenig who live in Connecticut, and he said he was grateful to find out her loved ones had not been harmed.
"I told her that we are with the people of France and that we will stand with them and work with them to fight this kind of terrorism," Blumenthal said.
Patrons say they have been following the news reports on television and say it is a depressing scene for them to process.
